I love everything about food. I love to cook it. I love the way it smells. I love the way it looks. And of course I love the way it tastes. None of this was a problem until I was pregnant with Zoe Scout. I ate everything in sight. I wanted bacon on everything and indulged in 4 or 5 bowls of sweet cereal every day with whole milk. Yikes! Consequently I put on about 45 lbs......that I have never taken off. I did better with the boys. I only put on 10 lbs but of course I have not taken that off either. Somehow nursing does not make me loose weight.
Anyway, the time has come to shed all these extra pounds. Knowing that I will do good for a couple of days and then sink back into bad habits I have decided that I need increased accountability. This has led me to the creation Weigh - In Wednesday. Every Wednesday will be my update on how I am doing with my weight loss goal. I am hoping that having to check in will keep me on track.
So......here it goes. I am going to loose 60 pounds. Yuck, I hated typing that! My goal for this week is to start exercising every day. The easiest way for me to do this is to run. We have dogs that need exercise anyway so I can just take one with me (they're out of shape too so maybe I won't feel so bad!).
Since this will be a major lifestyle change for me I feel I must say some goodbyes.
Goodbye restaurant indulgence........I will miss you most of all, Olive Garden Stuffed Mushrooms!
Goodbye large vanilla Dr. Pepper from Sonic. I am not sure I can give up Dr. Pepper altogether right now but I will be saying "so long" to the large size.
Goodbye extra butter and sugar. No more sugar in my coffee and no more extra butter in my cooking.
Now I am hungry......guess I will have a celery stick. :(
Talk to ya next Wednesday.
This is a great idea! I may have to copy you when I start to get serious about my own weight loss. For now, I'm afraid to alter my diet too much because of how it might effect my breastfeeding. But I've told myself that as soon as Ellowyn is weaned, I'm going for it!
ReplyDeleteWay to be vulnerable, Sarah. Pregnancy is hard on our bodies for sure. I can't imagine twins!! I never lost weight with breastfeeding either. Anyway, I highly recommend the Shred, which is a killer 20-min workout you can do at home. The kids often do it with me, but the fact that it is effective in 20 minutes makes it doable for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks....I will definitely try it!
ReplyDeleteProud of you!
ReplyDeleteOkay. Here we go. True to my name sake, I’ll offer some coaching suggestions (until you tell me to mind my own business.) For the first two weeks: What you are looking for is 5 days a week with workouts of 30 minutes. It is not necessary to run the whole time. Walk as much as you want. You are just looking for 30 minutes of slightly accelerated heart rate. This will begin to increase your metabolism. Plan to take two days off. Your body will need the rest. Drink plenty of water – and take water with you on the run/walks. Dehydration is the greatest danger in Texas in the summertime. Let’s roll. Coach
